Expert Witness and Sport Risk Auditing
After teaching sport risk management and legal issues in sport and serving as an administrator/coordinator in sport business for 30+ years in the academic world, Dr. Foster has the background to serve as your expert witness for sport negligence cases either for the plaintiff or defendant. Her broad sport background as an athlete, coach, and referee supports her knowledge for this important task. Dr. Foster also served as chair of the Coaches and Officials Committee for the United States Association for Blind Athletes (USABA) for eight years and was their head goalball official for 14 years. Her national and international experience in this area establishes her as a leading expert in officiating.
In teaching sport risk management and legal issues in sport, Dr. Foster exposed her students to hundreds of sport related cases showing them how they could keep themselves out of lawsuits when entering the sport business industry. Students also learned how constitutional and statutory law applied to sport and human resource issues. Conducting risk management audits for sport facilities were also a key learning outcome.
Dr. Foster has been a long-time member of the Sport Lawyers Association (SLA) the Sport and Recreation Law Association (SRLA), the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), and is an Emeritus Member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). She has served as a member of the Board of Commissioners, site review chair, and as a member of several task forces for COSMA.
